Deadline Met for Academy
On Tuesday 1st February 2005 an
historic event took place in the semi
arid region of Ukambani Mwingi
District. A new Girls Christian
Academy was opened and the first
intake of form 1 girls were enrolled.
Such was the public interest that the children were being enrolled amidst our workmen putting the finishing touches.
Even the lack of beds did not deter the parents. The girls were brought for enrolment carrying a new mattress, which must serve its function on the floor for the time being.
Apart from desks for the teachers, most other basic equipment is there, and by degrees over the next few months the final bits and pieces can be added.
As promised our Mission Policy will be carried on throughout the life of the school, with the Government paying the running costs.
The letter to the District Education Officer is reprinted here so that you may see just what we are for and what we stand against.
I have employed a resident chaplain, and his duty will entail morning assembly prayers and devotions, Friday fellowship, distributing literature . Bibles and counselling where necessary.
Our nurse will visit regularly to lecture on the HIV-Aids problem, and the physical and medical consequences of this scourge will serve to reinforce the spiritual lessons the Bible contains concerning purity.
We in F.A.M.E. are pleased that the community has its own school, and a much needed one at that, but also, that it will be a centre of witness for the cause of Christ in this needy and neglected area.
Dear Sir,
... Ours is a non-denominational Christian Mission preaching the gospel of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ as the only means of salvation.
Our statement of faith is a simple one;
A. That the Bible is the inspired Word of the one true and living God.
B. That Jesus Christ is Gods son, and that He was virgin born. (Matthew 1v23)
C. That He died for our sins according to the scriptures. (1 Corinthians 15v3)
D. That He was buried and that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures. (1 Corinthians 15v4)
E. That He is coming again personally and visibly, at the end of the world. (Acts 1v11)
F. That this same Jesus is alone the door to Heaven, the Saviour of men.
G. That Christ must be accepted by faith, and sins repented of in order to be saved.
H. That this salvation is called in the scriptures being Born Again.
May I add Sir that we do not associate with those who hold strange and perverse doctrines, such as the healing-miracletongues phenomenon. Nor do we believe that this teaching is in any way helpful to the community.
In our endeavours for the children in the Academy F.A.M.E. will provide properly trained and saved pastors to minister to the pupils in spiritual things.
Girl children are the mothers of every nation and it behoves us to set them on the road of life, moulded and fashioned in a stable, settled and wise manner.
Thank you for your understanding in these things. May God lead us to victory in the cause we have espoused, and may the children rise up and call us blessed, in that we have opened to them the door of hope, and shown to them the Light of the World.
Yours sincerely
Allan Dunlop
